Dementia Friendly Film Screening
Based on the lauded Rodgers and Hammerstein stage musical, this film follows the romance of Billy Bigelow (Gordon MacRae), a charming carousel barker, and Julie Jordan (Shirley Jones), a pretty worker from a nearby mill. When the attractive young couple gets married, they also both find themselves unemployed, which puts a strain on their relationship. When Billy finds out that Julie is pregnant, he resorts to extreme measures to get money, a decision that leads to tragedy.
Featuring ‘If I Loved You’, ‘June Is Bustin’ Out All Over’ and the anthemic ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.
Carers go free | Includes a free tea/coffee & cake
The dementia friendly screenings are programmed in partnership with the ‘A Life More Ordinary’ Project at The Dukes Theatre, Lancaster. This is a screening for people with dementia, memory loss and their family, friends and carers but is open to the general public. Please note that pastoral care is not provided at these events. A friend, family member or carer must also attend. The screenings have a relaxed atmosphere so that people are welcome to move around and come and go as they please. Each screening includes an interval with live entertainment, provided by and in partnership with Welsh National Opera and supported by Canu Conwy, the Conwy County Borough Council staff choir.
*Please contact us in advance if you are a wheelchair user and wish to attend as there is limited availability of wheelchair spaces.
