Monty Python's The Life of Brian - Charity Screening With Live Interview and Q&A 12A

Director: Terry Jones

Genre: Historical , Comedy

Cast: Graham Chapman, Terry Jones, Eric Idle, John Cleese, Michael Palin

Notorious religious satire, Monty Python’s The Life of Brian tells the story of Brian (Graham Chapman), a reluctant would-be messiah who rises to prominence as a result of a series of absurd and truly hilarious circumstances providing ample opportunity for the entire ensemble to shine in multiple roles as they mock everyone and everything from ex lepers, Pontius Pilate and the art of haggling to crazy prophets, Roman centurions and crucifixion. In what was the troupe’s third, and highly controversial, film, Monty Python delivers a scathing, anarchic satire of both religion and Hollywood’s depiction of all things biblical.

This charity screening celebrates the film’s director and co-writer, the late Terry Jones, who was Patron of Theatr Colwyn.

Discover the story behind A Python On The Prom, the global fundraising campaign led by the Conwy Arts Trust with Terry’s children Sally and Bill Jones, which raised £120,000 in public donations to create a bronze statue of Terry Jones in Colwyn Bay, unveiled by fellow Python’s Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam on 25 April 2026.

ITV Wales’ Rob Shelley will host a live interview with Sally Jones and sculptor Nick Elphick prior to the screening, discussing the remarkable campaign and the process of turning the idea of a statue into a phenomenal piece of public art. There will also be an opportunity for audience members to ask questions.

Money raised from the evening will be shared between two charities that were very close to Terry’s heart – Conwy Arts Trust and The National Brain Appeal, Rare Dementia Support.
